BACKGROUND

Personality} Other than her flashy appearance, Pearl doesn’t assert herself too much to stand out in a crowd. She has what we call silent potential, taking good ranks in shows and excellent practice in training, but never making a fuss about it. She’s almost like a stranger in the barn, and is hardly vocal. She has very soft, gentle and adorable knickers when she’s in any type of good mood, and is hardly ever in a bad one. She pours her soul into what is asked of her, making her a very formidable opponent, even against the other CoaH horses; however she is always very humble about everything she does.
She’s the perfect lesson horse or children’s mount, but because of all she has to offer buried deep within the bundle of modest mare, the farm does not want to waste her potential. Even though she is quiet in the barn and prefers to just blend in, no one can ignore everything she has to offer.
History} Pearl was the mare to be watched in the Arabian circuit. She had it all; flash, pizzazz, and the absolute drive to win. Not only that, but she was also young and already blowing seasoned champs out of the arena. Everything was going completely well for her and her farm, until one day she seemed to just disappear completely. Other horses and farms started to come out of hiding, but were cautious, expecting some large, elaborate return of the reining princess; but nothing.
A few years went by with little word, and eventually the glittering black star had dropped from the lips of gossipers and the tabloids of the media. Pearl, in her very short years of competition, became a thing of the past.
As suddenly as the mare came into the show ring and rose to fame, did a small ad with a faint and grainy photo of the mare appear in a few local magazines and news papers listed for sale. The price; anyone willing to train her.
Melody wasn’t the first one interested in Pearl, in fact, there were several eager Arabian enthusiasts eyeing the once rising star, but Melody was fortunate enough to be one of the ones chosen to prove herself in training the mare. Nervously she awaited a call for an appointment, and when the call came in she wasn’t a minute late.
Pearl wasn’t exactly the mare she remembered from the show ring. The black horse had gained a little weight during her time off and she seemed to have grown rather lazy. The mare’s deep colored eyes scanned Melody in curiosity as she approached her with a soft rope halter. Pearl jammed her head high into the air and with a snort, bolted to the other side of the stall. Surprised, Melody tried to understand what had just happened. Tauntingly Pearl snorted at her, and listened as Melody cooed to her. The mare allowed the halter the next attempt, but wasn’t so easy in the round pen.
Fresh from her days standing around, Pearl didn’t seem to listen at all, and friskily tossed her tail around and pranced leisurely around. Everything that could have gone wrong did. Melody returned home that evening feeling defeated and exhausted. She hadn’t much hope of owning the mare now, and gazed out at the barn with a few of her own rising hopefuls peacefully dozing in the calm of the evening.
A couple days had passed without much excitement until a phone call came in. Melody stood there for several moments speechless as others tried getting some type of sign from her. She nearly dropped the phone as she headed out of the door, grabbing a halter along the way. It had been Pearl’s farm calling her back, letting her know her application had been approved and Melody was free to pick up the mare at any time. She would soon be on her way to becoming a rising star once again.
