Name: Enigma
Breed: Arabian
Bloodlines: Janati x Fragment
Half Brother to Trinket; [link]
Full Pedigree: [link]
Age: 3
Height: 15.2 hh
Body: Slender
Type: Schizophrenic
Color: Blue Roan w/dapples, creamy mane and tail
Markings: Scattered white puzzle pieces, white front “socks,” white back “stockings,” red muzzle, red eye swirl
Eyes: “Earth Eyes,” blue at the top, fading into green
Discipline: None found
Worst Habit: Hesitating
Biggest Quirk: Often walking into things

Genetics: If bred, all foals will receive at least one puzzle piece. Because of his more “natural” look, his foals may not receive many extravagant markings or color; in fact, they will be rather simple, maybe even natural colored. Unless bred to a very brilliantly marked mare, the foals will not really stand out. It’s hard to say if his schizophrenia will carry on.

Status: Colt

Personality: Enigma is a schizophrenic type of horse. He spends his days just staring off, yet never really looking at anything. His ears are mostly perked forward, barely moving to take in the sounds of the earth. It’s like he’s already listening to music all his own, and sees a world we don’t. Most times, the things he does are done with hesitation, like he has to fight to be released into reality. However, lazy is not something you can call this horse. He doesn’t lean, or relax a foot, in fact, he’s never been seen laying down. He stands firmly with his head held high, and tail slightly erect, showing the world of his Arabian breeding, yet never looking.. or maybe never even seeing the world. Enigma is a very calm horse, and seems most alive when a music box or classical music is being played, but in the sounds of the world, he seems deaf to them, despite that he is not. There have been moments he would place his head into Melody’s arms with low knickers escaping his throat, like he was begging to be saved, but Melody watched helplessly.
Because of his dead, empty stare, hesitant actions and rare tendency to rear and bite the air, like he’s fighting something that really isn’t there, he makes trainers nervous, and a discipline has never really been found for him. He’s not something Miss Riddle wants bred, for fear of the foal’s sake, but close examination of a down to earth mare might bring in consideration.

History: ”He’s perfect!” she whispered, watching the unusual blue roan colt stand beside his dam. She stared into his eyes, Earth Eyes she called them. They started out blue then faded into green, like scanning the world from the sky down to the grassy meadows. But those eyes hardly shifted. Enigma stood in the pasture, gazing off, yet looking at nothing. He could turn to you, his eyes fixed on you, yet it was like he couldn’t even see you, like he was looking through glass at nothing. He seemed to see his own world, a world no one else could or would ever vision. He would stand, barely with the twitch of a muscle, and act as though he were hearing music that didn’t exist. He had his own soundtrack, and he would not share. He could spend hours without the dip of his head or the flick of his tail, just listening to his music in his head, watching his world slide by in images unimaginable.
If his mother broke out into a sprint, several hesitate seconds would pass before Enigma would follow. It was almost like watching his world release him to join ours for just those few moments of run, or eat.
Miss Riddle tightened her grip on the rope halter in hand, and stepped into the pasture, wading through the overgrown grass. She didn’t know how close she would get, and parts of her didn’t even know if she wanted to. Her steps were light, and she hunched low to the ground to seem less of a threat to the young colt, but the closer she got, the straighter she would stand for Enigma didn’t even turn an ear to her. His mother moved away from Miss Riddle, knowing what the rope in her hand meant, but Enigma failed to follow. Melody Riddle feared at this point the colt might be deaf, explaining his distance stare. Her foot snapped a branch hidden in the tall brush, and a flock of small birds escaped in a frenzy of fluttering out from the grass. Then, did Enigma respond. His ear flicked towards the sound of the branch, and his hind quarters hunched a bit from the sound of the birds, but his head did not move. He still stared. Melody knew at this point, there was nothing wrong physically with her colt, but mentally something.. or someone was constantly talking to him, or singing. He was hearing voices; hearing something unheard. Melody swallowed, and then took her final steps towards the colt. He didn’t move, didn’t turn his head. She slipped the halter over his lovely face, and gave a small tug. Enigma slowly turned his head towards her, and his stare was frightening somehow. Melody felt her pulse in the back of her throat; for the first time since she was a child, she was afraid of a horse, this horse, this colt. He stared, looking through her, yet at her. She wanted to let the rope go and run, but her hands tightened and she took a few steps back, pulling gently at Enigma’s head. He stood, letting the tension lift his face, then without fight, stepped forward. She kept moving back, and easily, with a motion like liquid, did he follow.
“You’re so gentle,” she whispered to the colt, stopping to raise shaking fingers to touch his face. She brushed her fingers through his short forelock and took in a long breath, “but why do I feel like you want to kill me?”

Author's note: This is my baby, Enigma! I’m in love with this horse, so simple, yet deadly. ;) I had his concept idea done in pen for some time now, and finally got around to getting it on paper, 11 months later too. He looks very babyish in this picture, so I will be working on a more mature piece later on. Needless to say, my scanner beat him up.
Time: 9 hours
Tools: Staedtler pigment liners, Prisma color, white watercolor pencil, paint, white gel pen

I adopted a Fragment foal that was bred by pooze18 when Fragment was first created.

I think we should let them meet at some point.
Youngsters over the fence. Sadly shes a mare so we cant risk them playing in the same paddock.

I'm very excited to see her! Perhaps I can draw Iggy here and her together. Would be a cute family picture. :)

I did not see this comment, but yes! They must meet! I agree, we could not allow them access to the same pasture. Engima is a bit hard to get to breed because of his seemingly uninterested personality of the real world, but why risk it?
I was planning on breeding Iggy to Harlequin, but then realized they both are decents from Ghede, so I must remake his pedigree chart.

How exciting! :) I can't wait until Trinket is introduced in your stables.
