Rayne, otherwise known as Danny from her middle name Danielle, had been a valuable addition to the Chronicles. The Australian born woman with the wild hair had 11 years of home taught experience and 6 years college taught equine knowledge. She became a top ranked trainer and competition rider in her home town for a stable that was only a few miles away from the home she grew up in. Her achievements granted her an opportunity to travel aboard to further her experience in an American stable. She applied for many, quite a few eagerly responded, but eventually she chose the Chronicles as her destination. It is here, nestled in Kentucky, she has been living on-site in one of the farm’s apartments for about 6 months. So far she had made several favorite connections with the horses, but the most surprising was Bahir Barakah, a young and unruly Arabian stallion.
Bahir was partially blind in his beautiful blue eye as well as being an orphaned foal which seemed to give the stud a bitter streak. Bahir’s show record hasn’t exactly been glorious, with his highest placing being 3rd in a liberty class where the stud practically made a fool of himself. A lot of Bahir’s issues seem to be his unwillingness to learn and stand still in show. He has had several good handlers who could unlock some of his potential, but the stud just wasn’t willing to show his best; until Rayne entered his stall one day.
The max sabino stud looked at her like she was crazy that afternoon she invited herself into his territory. He threw a leg towards her as if to shoo her away, but Rayne wasn’t detoured. She in fact chuckled at him! No one much laughed around him so he wasn’t used to that noise. He looked at her, doing circles in his stall, now not sure what to make of her. Rayne was patient, smiling at him.
“You’re just an opinionated bloke, aren’t you?” she chimed at him. It took a little longer than usual, but Rayne eventually haltered the irritated stud and brought him to a training pen.
Rayne took particular interest in him over the next three months, working him harder than anyone else had taken the initiative to, and in return Bahir gave Rayne more trouble that he had been known to give to any trainer. Finally there was a breakthrough and it came in the form of Rayne and Bahir spending a moment free of halters or lead ropes, of enjoying a bit of lunch together.
Rayne would let Bahir loose in the small back turnout paddocks behind the barn to loosen up after training. It was here she would always eat her lunch, every day bringing an apple. The stud usually stood in the far corner to stay as far away from her as possible while she enjoyed her food. This was the normal way for about a month and a half, Rayne always leaving an open invite for the apple. One day Bahir wised up and edged closer to her, cautiously eyeing her as he moved closer. He stuck out his lip and scooped the apple away and stared at her. She didn’t make a scene.
For the next week it played out this way, until one afternoon he stood there with her, waiting for his apple. Rayne smiled and gave him a pat on the neck.
After this they both eased up. Rayne knew now she could unlock his potential. Bahir knew now he could perform.

Today was their first time out together since their first meeting 5 months ago. Today was a new start for Bahir and a day to show what he could do. Still nervous about crowds, he tossed his head a little, biting at his show bit, but as they had worked on, he stood pretty. Rayne couldn’t help but smile as he shone so bright at his show. Today would prove what he could do…

Artist comments: BAHIR! :la: He’s back to kick some butt! Oh yeah , meet Rayne, CoaH’s new Australian rider. You’ll see a lot of her and Bahir soon.
