Lilium Stables Arabian Horse Show

CoaH Isaiah in Show Jumping

Horse: Isaiah
Breed: BL Harlequin - Arabian type
Age: 5

Rider: Melody Charmainè Riddle
Age: 25
Representing: Chronicles of a Hero

Class Entered: Show Jumping
Show Entered: Lilium Stables Arabian Horse Show

Melody ran her fingers across the fur of her Harlequin stallion that stood beside her. She traced the finely etched muscles, then began following the patterns of his markings. She felt the fine hair particles and fragments of dirt cling onto her skin; even baths and a daily cleaned stall didn’t detour the horse from finding ways to dirty himself. Under her hand, she could feel the subtle change of the thickness in his coat. Autumn was fast approaching, and the horses were slowly beginning to grow their winter pelts. Even stabled in a nicely controlled barn didn’t seem to matter to most of the horses.
Melody pulled the girth strap gently to tighten the saddle, and the horse flicked his head. Isaiah came home with a disappointing record from his first show at DLS, and since then was showing to become a weak jumper. Melody wasn’t sure if the loss had upset him, or if it had only affected Shelby, created an unwilling mood to train harder. Isaiah pushed his head against Melody, moving her backwards. She looked at him in a daze, noticing they had not made it as far out of the barn as she had thought. It was decided that she would begin working with the stud while Shelby concentrated on Xsayarsa’s career, which had shown clearly neglected in their last race at Rosendal. Melody wasn’t as disappointed with the 10th place he and Shelby took as she was in the way she preformed. She blamed herself, however, for pushing Shelby on too many horses.
She swung herself into the jumper’s saddle, suddenly realizing she had missed the feeling of being on her horse. Isaiah let out an exhilarated holler, looking over at another horse that practiced rounds in the neighboring arena. Of course it had to be a mare, Janati and her filly Kohana. Richard was moving about more than the mare it seemed, trying in desperate struggles to get movements and stances just right. The mare was haltered, tossing her head and mane in irritated fits, as her filly seemed to be doing much of the showing off, feeding off of her mother’s irritation, trying to only make it worse. Truth was, Janati was an endurance horse; though very elegant, she didn’t tend to show it when asked.
“At least Kohana is ready,” Melody teased, bringing Isaiah a couple of feet away from the fence.
Richard looked over at Melody, and shook his head. He unclipped the lead from the halter, and the mare broke away, sending a small kick his way to show her feelings on her current training.
“Hey, what’re you doing?” Melody asked, watching Richard climb furiously through the railed arena.
“Taking a break,” he bit back, gliding past her, tension radiating off him.
It wasn’t usual that Melody was afraid and worried when he threw little tantrums, but something about this one scared her.
Sharply, Isaiah’s hind end gave a little hop as the horse pulled at his bit to chase the mare. In only a few days the farm would be taking half of their Arabians to a ranch in Arizona to compete in a rather large show… and they were already off to a great start…

Artist comments: :dummy: Another entry! This was originally supposed to be entered in Rosendal’s jumping grand prix, but the show ended and we were scratched, so we entered in this one instead. :] Wish him some luck, he’s competing against other great jumpers and needs a win or place to boost his confidence. :aww:

Well goodness Richard! He's just being pissy, of course horses can bring that side out of a person when they decide to be stubborn :XD: Great story, I love the conflict! :mwahaha:
As for the picture, wow what a pose! Great job on the foreshortening of the legs and body, I'm sure it wasn't easy. I love that you took a chance and did such a crazy angle  Very nice coloring job, I like the jump, very cute! :aww: The bg compliments the horse and rider nicely the way the mountains kind of frame them in and the light is illuminating them from behind, nice decision! Great job dear!
